old temples – the Thien Hau Temple on Nguyen Trai Street is a must-visit – and also stop by at the St Francis Xavier Church on Hoc Lac Street to see how Chinese influence is incorporated into the architecture of the 115-year-old church. Fabric shopping is a highlight in Cholon! Right in front of the St Francis Xavier Church, on Tran Hung Street, is “Fabric Street” where you’ll find a multitude of shops selling luscious Vietnamese silk, delicate hand-embroidered clothing and wholesalers selling bits and bobs for sewing like buttons, thread and hooks.

If you’re looking to purchase local produce and foodstuff, Binh Tay Market, the city’s biggest wholesale market, has everything you’ll want. Delicious tropical fruits, an assortment of nuts and sweets, right down to lacquerware and handicraft items all beg for your attention. If you want to shop for clothes, head over to An Dong Market. Located next to Windsor Plaza Hotel, this three-storey indoor market is chockfull of stores selling clothing, fabric, dried foodstuff, more crafts, even jade and crystal!

The experience of being caught in the middle of a busy intersection while on a Cyclo Tour will be a memorable one!
