Celeb Siti Saleha discovers a different side of Hong Kong

Why did you decide to take part in Extreme Ends?

When my manager told me about this reality programme by KIX HD, I said yes because I have never done reality TV before. I have also been watching this channel and KIX HD has great action shows. Plus, I liked that they wanted to focus on the “extreme” opposites of Hong Kong and activities you could do instead of the normal tourist-y stuff like going to town or going on a cruise.

What was it like doing a show like this with your husband?

At first, I was nervous about doing this together because when we argue, it can get quite bad. I was worried that I would have to be on my toes all the time. Then we found out that we would be filmed separately because Extreme Ends is about the extreme opposites of Hong Kong and we were doing “Day vs Night”. Lutfi did the “Day” activities while I did the “Night” activities.

What did you get to do there?

There is a lot that Hong Kong can offer for an outdoors fan like me. I got to hike Fei Ngo Shan mountain, with a night view overlooking Hong Kong. That was really spectacular. I also did paintball. The island has plenty of rock-climbing spots as well.

Lutfi went for archery and came back with bruises on his elbows and knees! But I know he had great fun. He also went up Lover’s Rock at Bowen Road; it is where couples go and wish for good things. He made some nice wishes there.

What was your most memorable moment during the filming?

There was one challenge that I had to select a meal for him to guess and he had to do the same. We both guessed the right meal – it was romantic and we got to know each other better.

What was the biggest challenge?

One of the activities I had to do was play paintball in full military uniform. I got hit several times. I was in a real panic! I even lost my balance once, but from the view of the camera, it looked like I was diving. I came out thinking: “I need to go to the gym more!” as it was quite draining both physically and mentally.

You are already in amazing shape. Did you have to train for the show?

Yes, I had to be physically prepared. Lutfi and I go to the gym together whenever we travel. I also run, cycle and play badminton with Lutfi while he boxes as well.

How did you prepare mentally for the challenges on the show?

I wasn’t prepared! I did not know what we were in for and I was very nervous. The last thing I wanted to do was to

“I played paintball for the first time in full military uniform where I got hit several times. I was in a real panic!”

embarrass myself. But since this is a reality series, they wanted to capture candid moments. I had to really trust the producers.

What was it like having the cameras follow you around?

I am used to it because when I act, the cameras are there, although it is a bit different in a reality programme. I was OK with it; I was more concerned about Lutfi as he is not as accustomed to it as I am. But he really liked it – and the attention! He enjoyed the whole experience of having a crew follow him around.

Do you think your experience here will influence your acting?

Acting and being in a reality show are quite different. If my fans want to see who Siti Saleha really is, this is the show to watch. In acting, you are performing as someone else and in a different world. There are a lot of people out there who do not know the real me; this show will help to show who I really am.

If you were to take someone on an “extreme ends” kind of adventure in Malaysia, where will you take them and why?

I would take them hiking up Bukit Tabur (do not use shortcuts!) or diving at the Malaysian islands.

What do you like most about Hong Kong?

The view! We were there for four days and there was nothing like waking up to a gorgeous morning view overlooking the harbour.

Will you go again to Hong Kong? What will you do there next time?

I will definitely go to Hong Kong again and next time, I will go rock-climbing! I would really love to do that. Extreme Ends premieres October 17 at 9.30pm on KIX HD (Astro CH 729).

Watch the real Siti Saleha in action on this reality show.

The beautiful view from Fei Ngo Shan mountain is worth the hike.

The bustling skyline of Hong Kong at night.

Trying paintballing for the first time!

The actress can’t wait to explore more of Hong Kong on her next trip.

Siti Saleha and her husband, Lutfi did different activities during the trip.
