PN urges government not to accept a reduction in Air Malta point-to-point routes

-

In light of the latest reported developments on the future of Air Malta, the PN urges government not to accept that Air Malta reduces its point-to-point routes, and to, under no circumstances, give up control as to how and when routes change.

The PN also urges all parties involved in discussions to work together and pull the same rope that will result in the growth of the airline while removing uncertainty from the minds of workers and their families.

The PN said that the main stakeholders, including the unions, be given the whole picture as to what government is proposing to change within Air Malta, and be given the Alitalia proposed business plan.

“This is crucial information for unions, and will allow them to weigh the directions they should give workers in the context of the discussions. This would serve to avoid speculation.

“Government has to change the way it deals with the unions, and hold discussions with all four together, so that there will be more convergence between workers from each sector,” the PN added.

The PN will continue to contribute proposals and ideas for the future of the airline, it said.
