Environment Minister launches Bubble Festival
Minister for Sustainable Development, the Environment and Climate Change José Herrera addressed the launch of this year’s Bubble Festival which will be held between the 23rd and the 25 September 2016.
The festival is held at the end of every summer to raise funds for a variety of green and humanitarian causes, with 100% of profits going to charitable causes.
“I was very pleased to learn that during last year’s festival, €13,000 were raised during The Bubble Festival and donated to the Gaia Foundation, WhyNot? and Right2Smile,” stated Dr Herrera.
Minister Herrera emphasised the important role that NGOs such as The Bubble and its collaborators play locally, particularly eNGOs such as the Gaia Foundation, which are entrusted by the Maltese authorities to co-manage the natural environment, including our beautiful coastline and unique fauna.
The dedication and effort that go into the protection of our environment by eNGOs were strongly commended by the Minister, and he hoped that the cooperation that exists between the local authorities and such NGOs continues to flourish.
Delving into The Bubble Festival’s varied programme, Minister Herrera was pleased to note that the organisers’ intention is to create positive awareness of the environment, the arts and our community.
“Public awareness is pivotal to the enhancement of our environment. I augur that the organisers continue building on last year’s success”, concluded Minister José Herrera.
