Easy victory for Zejtun over Zabbar
In the first match of the BOV Second Division League played on Friday night at the Luxol Stadium, Zejtun Corinthians easily beat Zabbar St Patrick by three goals to nil.
Alan Tabone opened the scoring on 49 minutes direct from a free kick while Anthony Ewurum doubled on 69 minutes.
Tanaka Kumpei made certain of the points with a breakaway goal two minutes from time.
Mgarr United and Birzebbugia featured in a goalless draw.
Siggiewi and Qrendi also drew 11 in the first match at the Sirens Stadium.
Dasser Sammut opened the scoring for Qrendi but Shaun Bugeja managed to equalise for Siggiewi.
In the first match at the Charles Abela Stadium, Swieqi defeated Attard by two goals to one.
Bruno Menezes and Roderick Taliana put Swieqi two goals ahead after just six minutes shocking Attard who managed to pull one back on 9 minutes but Swieqi even missed a penalty in the second half.
In the second match at the Sirens Stadium, San Gwann also showed their mettle when they smashed Gudja United by four goals to nil.
Nicky Muscat, Jan Tanti and a brace by William Abeeb were enough for the Saints to register their first three points.
In a match between two newly promoted sides, Marsaxlokk and Ghaxaq drew 1-1 at the Charles Abela Stadium.
Sergio Hili opened the scoring on 13 minutes but Ghaxaq equalised at the very end through Juan Carlos Viera.
The second match at the Centenary Stadium was a hot tempered affair between Mellieha and St George’s ending in yet another 2-2 draw.
Mellieha went ahead after just three minutes through Wayne Chetcuti but St George’s, who also ended up with ten men equalised on 45 minutes through Chike Eke.
Emerson Amaira put St George’s ahead on 74 minutes but Shamison Farrugia equalised for Mellieha six minutes later.
The Cospicua team also ended up with nine men just before the end of the match.
