Nar­row win for St Lu­cia over Kirkop

St Lu­cia strarted their com­mit­ments with a nar­row 1-0 vic­tory over Kirkop United at the Charles Abela Sta­dium.

The only goal of the game was scored by Gilbert Camil­leri on the half hour mark.

In the first match at the Luxol Sta­dium, St Ven­era Light­nings beat Mtarfa by two goals to nil with a brace by Dan­jel Va­sic on 46 and 94 min­utes, the lat­ter through a penalty.

Msida St Joseph beat Ta’ Xbiex through a soli­tary goal by Matthew Thorne Mamo in the first match at the Sirens Sta­dium.

In the sec­ond match at the Luxol Sta­dium, Mdina Knights also started their cam­paign with a fine 3-0 win over Zur­rieq.

Daniel Cluett opened the scor­ing on 35 min­utes with Ge­orge Fal­zon adding an­other on 58 min­utes. Veli­bor Meli­cic sealed the is­sue on 71 min­utes.

In the sec­ond match at the Charles Abela Sta­dium, Xgha­jra Tor­na­dos eas­ily beat Marsas­cala also by three goals to nil.

Kalkara also be­gan their com­mit­ments with a 4-2 vic­tory over Dingli Swal­lows after hav­ing been two goals down.

Joshua Scia­r­rino and Luke Galea scored after 7 and 18 min­utes but Kalkara equalised in the space of five min­utes through Matthew Schem­bri and Jacob Camil­leri on 31 and 36 min­utes re­spec­tively.

Timmy Thomas made it 3-2 for Kalkara on 66 min­utes and the same striker added an­other in added time to seal a fine win.
