Narrow win for St Lucia over Kirkop
St Lucia strarted their commitments with a narrow 1-0 victory over Kirkop United at the Charles Abela Stadium.
The only goal of the game was scored by Gilbert Camilleri on the half hour mark.
In the first match at the Luxol Stadium, St Venera Lightnings beat Mtarfa by two goals to nil with a brace by Danjel Vasic on 46 and 94 minutes, the latter through a penalty.
Msida St Joseph beat Ta’ Xbiex through a solitary goal by Matthew Thorne Mamo in the first match at the Sirens Stadium.
In the second match at the Luxol Stadium, Mdina Knights also started their campaign with a fine 3-0 win over Zurrieq.
Daniel Cluett opened the scoring on 35 minutes with George Falzon adding another on 58 minutes. Velibor Melicic sealed the issue on 71 minutes.
In the second match at the Charles Abela Stadium, Xghajra Tornados easily beat Marsascala also by three goals to nil.
Kalkara also began their commitments with a 4-2 victory over Dingli Swallows after having been two goals down.
Joshua Sciarrino and Luke Galea scored after 7 and 18 minutes but Kalkara equalised in the space of five minutes through Matthew Schembri and Jacob Camilleri on 31 and 36 minutes respectively.
Timmy Thomas made it 3-2 for Kalkara on 66 minutes and the same striker added another in added time to seal a fine win.
