DHL Express Plane Pull 3 for Puttinu Cares

Malta Independent - - NEWS -

For the third successive year, DHL Express, in association with the Phoenix Sports Club, yesterday organised Plane Pull Malta, with the chosen charity to benefit from all proceeds being the Puttinu Cares Foundation.

Commenting on this latest edition of the Plane Pull, Charles Schiavone, Manager of DHL Express Malta, explained, “Our goal once again this year is to raise as much as possible for our chosen charity. This needs to be achieved while re- specting all the regulations within Malta International Airport’s perimeter for health, safety and security of all those involved.

“All those who volunteer to come to pull the aircraft must be aware that the plane’s engines will be on and there will be an engineer in the pilot’s seat, since he will need to apply the brakes at the end of each pull. In addition, there will be another engineer on the ground to give the other engineer directions.”

Twelve teams comprising 214 people took part in yesterday’s plane pull, with the fastest time being registered by a group of Elbros employees, who completed the 20-metre distance in 31.31 seconds. Elbros donated €1,000 to the Plane Pull Malta, which in turn is donating all proceeds to Puttinu Cares

There were two teams from the Police. Both Interior Minister Carmelo Abela and the Police Commissioner Lawrence Cutajar were present to urge on the two teams.
