Wil­liam Chet­cuti wins In­de­pen­dence Day tro­phy in Dou­ble Trap event

Wil­liam Chet­cuti won the In­de­pen­dence Day Tro­phy, beat­ing Nathan Lee Xuereb in the Gold Medal match with the score of 29/30+2 to 29/30+1.

Af­ter the semi­fi­nal, Wil­liam Chet­cuti ad­vanced to the Gold Medal match with the score of 28/30 while Nathan Lee Xuereb and Gian­luca Chet­cuti had tied scores of 27/30.

In the shoot-off to de­cide who will go for Gold, Xuereb came on top with the score of 27/30+12 to Chet­cuti’s score of 27/30+11.

Gian­luca Chet­cuti went on to win the Bronze Medal match vs. Jo­hann Xuereb with the score of 27/30 to 25/30.

The top five qual­i­fy­ing scores were: 1st Wil­liam Chet­cuti 135/150 2nd Nathan Lee Xuereb 141/150 3rd Gian­luca Chet­cuti 133/150 4th Jo­hann Xuereb 118/150 5th Liam Sciber­ras 97/150 In the mean­time, at the South­ern Shoot­ing Club the top three over­all win­ners of the In­de­pen­dence Day Tro­phy in the Down the Line event (Dritta) were: 1st Andy Spi­teri 25/25 2nd Bertu Galea 24/25 3rd Alan James 23/25

Ge­orge Mif­sud wins C. Grech Trap com­pe­ti­tion

Ge­orge Mif­sud claimed the C. Grech Grand Prix when he won at the Qormi Clay Shoot­ing Club this week­end.

This event was or­gan­ised over three qual­i­fi­ca­tion rounds of 25 tar­gets each, where the top six shoot­ers over­all, ad­vanced to the semi-fi­nal stages and even­tu­ally the Medal matches.

Ge­orge Mif­sud placed 1st over­all with 65/75 in the qual­i­fi­ca­tion rounds, 13/15 in the semi-fi­nal and 12/15 in the Gold Medal Match as he de­feated Frank Scorfna, who had man­aged 61/75 in qual­i­fi­ca­tions, 9/15 in the semis and 11/15 in the Gold Medal match.

Sean Rizzo took the Bronze medal home when he beat Stephen Vella 13/15 to 10/15 in the Bronze Medal match.

In the semi­fi­nal both Rizzo and Vella scored 8/15.

The other two par­tic­i­pants who did not make it through to the Medal matches were Pi­etro Gial­lom­bardo and Paul For­mosa they both hit 7/15 tar­gets in the semi-fi­nal.

Mar­cello At­tard wins Aquilina Skeet Shield

Goz­i­tan shooter Mar­cello At­tard won the Aquilina Shield at the Bid­nija Shoot­ing Ranges on In­de­pen­dence Day, beat­ing Bozhi­dar Dim­itrov in the Gold Medal match with the score of 13/16 to 10/16.

Af­ter the semi-fi­nal, Bozhi­dar Dim­itrov ad­vanced to the Gold Medal match with the score of 15/16 while the young shooter from Gozo and Ja­son Agius had a tie score of 14/16 hit tar­gets.

In the shoot-off to de­cide who will go for gold, Mar­cello At­tard came on top with the score of 14/16+4 to Ja­son Agius’s score of 14/16+3 who on the other hand went on to win the Bronze Medal match vs. Sil­vio At­tard with the score of 14/16 to 10/16.

Sil­vio At­tard’s semi-inal score was 13/16.

The two other shoot­ers, who did not make it through to the Medal matches af­ter the semi­fi­nal stages were, Joe Mus­cat with the score of 12/16 and Mar­cello’s brother, Mar­lon At­tard, who man­aged 11/16 hits.

Mar­cello At­tard also shot a per­fect straight of 25/25. Re­sults Class A 1st Mar­lon At­tard 46/50 2nd Joe Mus­cat 46/50 3rd Sil­vio At­tard 46/50 Class B 1st Mar­cello At­tard 48/50 2nd Ed­win Zam­mit 44/50 3rd Ja­son Agius 44/50 The MSSF Shot­gun Skeet Pro­gramme will con­tinue on Sun­day, 2 Oc­to­ber at the Bid­nija Ranges with the Mula Tro­phy.
