William Chetcuti wins Independence Day trophy in Double Trap event
William Chetcuti won the Independence Day Trophy, beating Nathan Lee Xuereb in the Gold Medal match with the score of 29/30+2 to 29/30+1.
After the semifinal, William Chetcuti advanced to the Gold Medal match with the score of 28/30 while Nathan Lee Xuereb and Gianluca Chetcuti had tied scores of 27/30.
In the shoot-off to decide who will go for Gold, Xuereb came on top with the score of 27/30+12 to Chetcuti’s score of 27/30+11.
Gianluca Chetcuti went on to win the Bronze Medal match vs. Johann Xuereb with the score of 27/30 to 25/30.
The top five qualifying scores were: 1st William Chetcuti 135/150 2nd Nathan Lee Xuereb 141/150 3rd Gianluca Chetcuti 133/150 4th Johann Xuereb 118/150 5th Liam Sciberras 97/150 In the meantime, at the Southern Shooting Club the top three overall winners of the Independence Day Trophy in the Down the Line event (Dritta) were: 1st Andy Spiteri 25/25 2nd Bertu Galea 24/25 3rd Alan James 23/25
George Mifsud wins C. Grech Trap competition
George Mifsud claimed the C. Grech Grand Prix when he won at the Qormi Clay Shooting Club this weekend.
This event was organised over three qualification rounds of 25 targets each, where the top six shooters overall, advanced to the semi-final stages and eventually the Medal matches.
George Mifsud placed 1st overall with 65/75 in the qualification rounds, 13/15 in the semi-final and 12/15 in the Gold Medal Match as he defeated Frank Scorfna, who had managed 61/75 in qualifications, 9/15 in the semis and 11/15 in the Gold Medal match.
Sean Rizzo took the Bronze medal home when he beat Stephen Vella 13/15 to 10/15 in the Bronze Medal match.
In the semifinal both Rizzo and Vella scored 8/15.
The other two participants who did not make it through to the Medal matches were Pietro Giallombardo and Paul Formosa they both hit 7/15 targets in the semi-final.

Marcello Attard wins Aquilina Skeet Shield
Gozitan shooter Marcello Attard won the Aquilina Shield at the Bidnija Shooting Ranges on Independence Day, beating Bozhidar Dimitrov in the Gold Medal match with the score of 13/16 to 10/16.
After the semi-final, Bozhidar Dimitrov advanced to the Gold Medal match with the score of 15/16 while the young shooter from Gozo and Jason Agius had a tie score of 14/16 hit targets.
In the shoot-off to decide who will go for gold, Marcello Attard came on top with the score of 14/16+4 to Jason Agius’s score of 14/16+3 who on the other hand went on to win the Bronze Medal match vs. Silvio Attard with the score of 14/16 to 10/16.
Silvio Attard’s semi-inal score was 13/16.
The two other shooters, who did not make it through to the Medal matches after the semifinal stages were, Joe Muscat with the score of 12/16 and Marcello’s brother, Marlon Attard, who managed 11/16 hits.
Marcello Attard also shot a perfect straight of 25/25.
