Gharghur make it with late come­back

Gharghur re­turned to win­ning ways yes­ter­day after their 1-6 drub­bing against Sen­glea, scor­ing two late goals to beat Pi­eta 21, in a rather timid match.

For Pi­eta Hot­spur this was the first de­feat of the sea­son and the two goals suf­fered were the first con­ceeded by Pa­trick Curmi’s side.

The match failed to lift off with Pi­eta look­ing more ag­gres­sive but shots at goal were nowher to be seen.

The first at­tempt came from Gharghur after 25 min­utes when Fag­beja’s shot on the turn was blocked by the Pi­eta cus­to­dian and from the re­bound Ce­sar da Silva hit the cross­bar.

Just be­fore the break Pi­eta forged ahead with a great header from cen­tral de­fender Chris­tian Grech.

Gharghur were slightly bet­ter in the sec­ond half, but Pi­eta looked well cov­ered at the back.

How­ever after hit­ting the wood­work through sub­sti­tute Sciber­ras, Gharghur ob­tained the equaliser on 81 min­utes when Keith Fedele headed home a Lima Nilolav cor­ner.

Gharghur con­tin­ued to pres for­ward in search of the win­ner and three min­utes they reached their goal when Muda Fag­beja beat the Pi­eta cus­to­dian with a shot on the turn from the edge of the area.
