Es­ther Azzopardi ap­pointed for FIFA U-17 women’s World Cup

The Malta FA Ref­er­ee­ing Depart­ment with great plea­sure an­nounces that in­ter­na­tional ref­eree Es­ther Azzopardi has been ap­pointed to of­fi­ci­ate in the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Jor­dan 2916 to be played from Fri­day 30th Septem­ber to Fri­day 21st Oc­to­ber 2016.

17 ref­er­ees and 28 as­sis­tant ref­er­ees have been cho­sen from all 6 con­fed­er­a­tions all over the world; the 4 Euro­pean ref­er­ees are from Malta, Por­tu­gal, Rus­sia and the Czech Repub­lic.

All of­fi­cials ar­rived in Am­man, the cap­i­tal city of Jor­dan, last Satur­day 24th Septem­ber, for an in­tense prepara­tory week, which in­volves video anal­y­sis of match sit­u­a­tions, de­ci­sion mak­ing and Laws of the Game tests; and also fur­ther fit­ness tests and checks.

The 15 par­tic­i­pat­ing teams with hosts Jor­dan form the fol­low­ing groups:

Group A – Jor­dan, Spain, Mex­ico, New Zealand

Group B – Venezuela, Ger­many, Cameroon, Canada

Group C – Nige­ria, Brasil, Eng­land, Korea DPR

Group D – USA, Paraguay, Ghana, Ja­pan

The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jor­dan 2016 kicks off on the 30th Septem­ber. The Quar­ter-Fi­nals will be on the 12th and 13th Oc­to­ber; the Semi-Fi­nals on the 17th Oc­to­ber; and the Fi­nal match on 21st Oc­to­ber 2016.
