Medicines Authority registered 450 products this year alone
The Medicines Authority has over 5,300 registered medical products, with 450 having been registered this year, Social Dialogue Minister Helena Dalli said during a meeting with the medicine and pharmaceutical stakeholders.
She said that over the past three and a half years, Malta reached the fifth position in the generic medicines evaluation at the centralised level, while adding that since 2013, more than 250 products have been evaluated as a reference member state. “In 2015, the authority established itself as one of 10 European countries most active in the assessment of European procedures.
Regarding the Medicines Intelligence and Access Unit, she spoke of the importance of these services, for both government and the public, adding that they result in lower medicine prices. “At the same time, individual attention is given when a patient faces a problem regarding access to medicine.”
Authority Chairman Anthony Serracino Inglott said that over the past three years, the authority was more accessible and what used to take years to implement, today is done in a short amount of time.
