A 25-year-old man from Naxxar has been placed on probation after he admitted to having threatened his wife with a shotgun.
The man was also charged with causing his wife to fear that violence would be used against her as well as attacking her, causing her slight injuries, and insulting her. He was also accused of relapsing.
Magistrate Doreen Clarke heard how the incident took place on Sunday during a domestic argument.
The prosecution and defence spent several minutes discussing the case with the magistrate in the privacy of her chambers before the sitting and few details emerged inside the courtroom.
The accused pleaded guilty to the charges. He was placed on probation for two years and ordered to leave the matrimonial home until separation proceedings are concluded. He was also ordered not to go near his wife. The shotgun was confiscated.
Lawyer Michael Sciriha appeared for the accused. Inspector Roderick Spiteri prosecuted.
