Naxxar man who threat­ened wife with shot­gun placed on pro­ba­tion

A 25-year-old man from Naxxar has been placed on pro­ba­tion af­ter he ad­mit­ted to hav­ing threat­ened his wife with a shot­gun.

The man was also charged with caus­ing his wife to fear that vi­o­lence would be used against her as well as at­tack­ing her, caus­ing her slight in­juries, and in­sult­ing her. He was also ac­cused of re­laps­ing.

Mag­is­trate Doreen Clarke heard how the in­ci­dent took place on Sun­day dur­ing a do­mes­tic ar­gu­ment.

The pros­e­cu­tion and de­fence spent sev­eral min­utes dis­cussing the case with the mag­is­trate in the pri­vacy of her cham­bers be­fore the sit­ting and few de­tails emerged inside the court­room.

The ac­cused pleaded guilty to the charges. He was placed on pro­ba­tion for two years and or­dered to leave the mat­ri­mo­nial home un­til sep­a­ra­tion pro­ceed­ings are con­cluded. He was also or­dered not to go near his wife. The shot­gun was con­fis­cated.
