Government reaches deal with MUMN, industrial action called off
The government has reached a deal with the Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses on the operation of the Accident and Emergency Department, and the union has called off its industrial action, a Department of Information statement said yesterday.
The agreement was reached after the government conceded that the number of nurses employed should be increased. The two sides agreed that by the end of this month a training course for nurses is completed for them to be deployed in this department.
The Mater Dei hospital administration and the MUMN will set up a working group to focus on training for nurses and better management of the department.
