34 individuals recognised for their contribution towards the sustainable development goals in Malta
As part of its commitment to push the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development amongst all sectors of society, Junior Chamber International Malta launched the nominations for the #GlobalGoals Awards earlier this year to recognize individuals between 18 to 40 years of age, that are contributing towards the Sustainable Development Goals.
By the close of the nominations in August, 34 individuals from Malta have been identified by the general public to be making an impact in their communities through their work, activism or initiatives.
On the 14th October, an Awards night will be held to crown 10 of these nominees as the top winners in their respective category following an evaluation process held by 5 international judges.
“Awareness is the first step towards achieving the Global Goals and through identifying inspirational individuals that act as role models, we felt it is an innovative way of how this awareness could be raised” said Clayton Mercieca, National President of JCI Malta. “This awards programme served as an ideal platform to put a spotlight on such individuals that deserve to be recognized and for the general public to know more about what is being done to save the planet”.
