Zejtun top standings after beating Swieqi
Zejtun Corinthians rose to the top of the table with maximum points from three games when they defeated Swieqi by two goals to nil. Alan Tabone and Adrian Carabott scored on 31 and 68 minutes respectively.
Zabbar St Patrick also rose to third place with a 2-0 victory over Mellieha at the Charles Abela Stadium. Shalon Diacono opened the scoring on 20 minutes followed by Jean Claude Cesare on the half hour mark.
In the first match at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday, San Gwann easily beat St George’s by three goals to one. Jan Tanti opened the scoring on 32 minutes followed by Williams Abeeb on 62 minutes and Nezar Abouhaisa on 66 minutes. Matthew Borg scored a consolation goal for St George’s on 84 minutes.
Qrendi joined San Gwann in joint second place with a hard fought victory over Marsaxlokk in the first match at the Luxol Stadium. Dhonatan Santos da Hora scored the winning goal after 51 minutes.
Mgarr United registered the first victory of the campaign when they defeated Attard by three goals to one in the second match at the Centenary Stadium. Lazar Doric opened the scoring with a quick brace on 40 and 43 minutes with Mauro Grioli pulling one back for Attard on the stroke of half time. Adam Debattista made sure of the points four minutes from time for Mgarr.
Siggiewi registered their first win of the campaign when they hammered Gudja United by four goals to nil. Didier Sohna scored twice on 7 and 18 minutes followed by Eman Ciappara on 59 and Samuel Vella on 81 minutes.
In the Friday night match, Birzebbuga beat Ghaxaq by two goals to one. Davide Mula scored for Ghaxaq on 15 minutes but the Southseasiders reversed the result through a Keith Muscat penalty on 44 minutes and a strike by Lesley Cassar Jackson on 51 minutes.
