FIFA pun­ishes eleven soc­cer fed­er­a­tions for crowd trou­ble

FIFA says Chile has been banned from play­ing a World Cup qual­i­fier at its na­tional sta­dium and the coun­try's soc­cer fed­er­a­tion has been fined be­cause of the re­peated dis­crim­i­na­tory and un­sport­ing con­duct of its fans.

In a state­ment yes­ter­day, FIFA says the ban ap­plies for the March 28 game against Venezuela at the Es­ta­dio Na­cional Julio Martinez Pradanos in San­ti­ago. The fed­er­a­tion was fined 65,000 Swiss francs ($66,300) for two un­spec­i­fied cases.

FIFA says its dis­ci­plinary com­mit­tee also fined sev­eral other fed­er­a­tions for crowd trou­ble: Hon­duras (65,000 Swiss francs), Al­ba­nia (50,000), El Sal­vador (45,000), Italy (30,000), Mex­ico (30,000), Peru (30,000), Paraguay (25,000), Ar­gentina (25,000), Canada (20,000) and Brazil (20,000).
