€750,000 Health Cen­tre project in Kirkop un­veiled

Health Min­is­ter Chris Fearne yes­ter­day an­nounced the launch of a project that will see a new health cen­tre in Kirkop.

“This cen­tre will be serve 25,000 res­i­dents in Kirkop and the sur­round­ing area; Safi, Qrendi, Mqabba, Zur­rieq and Luqa,” the Min­is­ter ex­plained.

Cur­rently, these res­i­dents are served by the Flo­ri­ana health cen­tre, he said.

“This project will cost around €750,000, and is ex­pected to be com­plete by the end of next year.”

Mr Fearne said that a num­ber of spe­cialised clin­ics will be avail­able within the cen­tre, in­clud­ing a well baby clinic, vac­ci­na­tion ser­vices, a di­a­betes clinic, po­di­a­trist ser­vices, phys­io­ther­apy, and fam­ily doc­tor ser­vices.

Min­is­ter Fearne spoke of the im­por­tance of com­mu­nity ser­vices, where a pa­tient could re­ceive the best pos­si­ble care, and would have easy ac­cess to a num­ber of ser­vices.
