President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca on Thursday presided over the launch of this year’s edition of the Fine Arts Auction in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation.

During her speech, the President said that just as the power of a painting or a sculpture challenges us to open our eyes and our minds in new and exciting ways, the Fine Arts Auction in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation also encourages the artists and the buyers to open their hearts.

“The auction highlights the vital work of the MCCFF, and its role in raising necessary funds for the benefit of the people of the Maltese Islands.

“These funds are essential to improve the quality of life and care for vulnerable individuals; for saving lives by providing specialised chemotherapy for cancer patients, specialised treatment for people with serious chronic diseases, and empowering marginalised communities to live dignified lives”.

The President thanked all the artists who have contributed a total of 111 works of art, adding that they should all feel proud knowing that through their generous contributions, “people are receiving muchneeded support and, most importantly, many lives are being saved”.
