Clifton Grima to re­place Leo Brin­cat in Par­lia­ment

Clifton Grima was elected yes­ter­day in a ca­sual elec­tion in the ninth elec­toral dis­trict for the seat va­cated through the res­ig­na­tion of Leo Brin­cat.

Dr Grima is CEO Carmel Hos­pi­tal.

Com­pet­ing for the seat were also Nikita Zam­mit Ala­mango, Manuel Mi­callef and Si­mon Sal­iba.

Mr Grima, a lawyer, was al­ways con­sid­ered to be the fron­trun­ner in the race, hav­ing ob­tained 1,646 first-count votes in 2013.

He won the seat after reach­ing the quota of 1,877 votes in the first count.
