After photo of dangerous works causes outrage, Sliema restaurant puts up wooden boards
Wooden boards have been put up around the ground floor of the Surfside restaurant in Sliema after a photo emerged on Monday of workers chipping away at the columns that support the balcony above while unsuspecting diners sat enjoying their meals al fresco.
Photos sent to The Malta Independent yesterday evening show that the entire ground floor has been boarded up. The eating area has also been reduced with no diners on top of the area being tackled.
Other photos show how the construction waste has been collected in two skips on the rocks. One reader said that another storm like last night’s would likely wash everything into the sea.
