The police are holding a person in connection with the death of an Englishman in St Paul’s Bay on Wednesday evening, the police said.

In a statement, the police said its assistance was sought at 8.30pm in a residence in Merluzz Street.

Officers who went on site discovered the body of a man who, it was later established, was that of an Englishman aged 77.

An autopsy carried out yesterday led the police to treat the incident as a “suspicious death”.

A person is being held by the police in connection with the incident. The police did not give gender, age or nationality.

Magistrate Aaron Bugeja is conducting an inquiry.
