Italian admits to stealing €800 from pharmacy
A 37-year-old Italian man pleaded guilty to stealing €800 from a pharmacy in Mġarr as well as causing €159 worth of damages to the same property.
The theft took place on 11 October at Mġarr Pharmacy, Mġarr at around 1pm. Gianluca Carlo’, who lives and works in Malta as a bartender, was charged with wilfully causing damage as well as aggravated theft, all to the detriment of Valerie Vella.
Magistrate Charmaine Galea, presiding over the case, handed down a one-year prison sentence suspended for three years. The accused was also ordered to pay back the €800 and “make good” on the €159 worth of damages. Carlo’ has six months to pay it back.
