Ital­ian ad­mits to steal­ing €800 from phar­macy

A 37-year-old Ital­ian man pleaded guilty to steal­ing €800 from a phar­macy in Mġarr as well as caus­ing €159 worth of dam­ages to the same prop­erty.

The theft took place on 11 Oc­to­ber at Mġarr Phar­macy, Mġarr at around 1pm. Gian­luca Carlo’, who lives and works in Malta as a bar­tender, was charged with wil­fully caus­ing dam­age as well as ag­gra­vated theft, all to the detri­ment of Va­lerie Vella.

Mag­is­trate Char­maine Galea, pre­sid­ing over the case, handed down a one-year prison sen­tence sus­pended for three years. The ac­cused was also or­dered to pay back the €800 and “make good” on the €159 worth of dam­ages. Carlo’ has six months to pay it back.

In­spec­tor Ni­cholas Vella pros­e­cuted while lawyer Pa­trick Vella rep­re­sented the ac­cused.
