Foot­ball: Al­fredo Di Ste­fano to have street named af­ter him in Madrid

Real Madrid great Al­fredo Di Ste­fano will have a street named af­ter him in Madrid. The Span­ish cap­i­tal an­nounced yes­ter­day that the street is in the neigh­bor­hood of Valde­fuentes, near the team’s train­ing camp in the north­ern part of the city. Di Ste­fano, who died in 2014 at age 88, is touted by Real Madrid as “the best foot­baller of all time.” The striker played for the club from 1953-64, win­ning five straight Euro­pean Cups, and eight Span­ish leagues. The Ar­gentina-born Di Ste­fano scored 308 goals with the Span­ish pow­er­house. One of Madrid’s main sta­di­ums at its train­ing camp is named af­ter Di Ste­fano.
