MaltaPost Issues “Treasures of Malta Series – “Balcony Corbels” Stamp Set
DAF Drive Day 16 in aid of Puttinu Cares Foundation
Today, MaltaPost will issue a set of three stamps depicting corbels (saljaturi) that support typical Maltese balconies.
Balconies have had a very important role in defining the character of the Maltese urban landscape, especially through their profusion of colours and decoration. In fact balconies highlight the streets of Malta and Gozo. One essential feature of balconies is the corbels used to support them. ‘Saljaturi’ may be lavishly decorated in a variety of manners featuring gargoyles, figureheads, emblems or other decorations.
The stamps will be available as from today from all Post Offices in Malta and Gozo. As part of its Social responsibility, United Equipment together with DAF N.V of Netherlands are joining forces in order to organise a ‘DAF Drive Day 16’ tomorrow in aid of Puttinu Cares Foundation.
