Zebbug hit five past Sirens for first win
Zebbug Rangers obtained their first victory of the season as they hit five goals past newly promoted side Sirens.
Zebbug fully deserved their victory as they played the better footbal especially in the first half with their striker Trebovac in splendid form.
Sirens did the early running but went behind after only six minutes play when Tomislav Trebovac scored a beauty direct from a freekick.
Sirens tried to recover from this setback and went close on the half hour with a Zammit header.
But four minutes later Zebbug doubled the score, and once again it was Trebovac who did all the running beating a couple of defenders before hitting home from an acute angle.
On the rsumption Zebug controlled the match and their twogoal cushion and put their minds at rest on 65 minutes when defender Ratko Mandic headed home the third following a corner action.
Sirens were practically dead and buried and Zebbug made four a couple of minutes later when the promising Dario Tabone mad his way inside the box past a couple of Sirens defenders before finishing off in style.
On 73 minutes however Sirens managed to score a consolation goal when Charles Newuche headed beautifully home following a freekick action.
Eight minutes from time Zebbug re-established their four-gol lead when Sirens veteran defender Tyrone Farrugia scored an own goal in an attempt to stop Rababah from scoring.
But the same defender made amends on 87 minutes when he managed to squeeze the ball home following a melee in front of the Zebug goal, to net Sirens’ second goal of a rather disappointing evening for the newcomers.
