Malta Independent - - SPORT -

Senglea Athletic returned to winnning ways after their derby setback when they easily beat Fgura thanks to three first half goals. The score is a bit harsh on Fgura who din not deserve to lose by a three-goal margin, as they hit the crossbar twice in the second half.

However Senglea deserved their victory showing that they have all credentials to fight for a Premiership berth at the end of the season. The returning Juninho Cabral confirmed all his potential scoring another two goals to bring his tally to an impressive eight so far this season.

Fgura did the early running with a George Chicop point blank effort that was blocked by a Senglea defender. On 12 minutes Senglea went in front with a gift goal from Fgura goalkeeper Matthew Camilleri who fumbled a weak central effort from Juninho Cabral with the ball finishing at the back of the net.

On 40 minutes Senglea doubled the score when Christian Cassar received the ball from Cabral, his first effort was blocked by a defender, but Cassar kept his cool and his second effort was clynical with the ball finishing in the far corner.

Seconda later Dylan Xuereb almost made it three when Dylan Xuereb shot slightly over the bar, but the third goal came on 43 minutes when Obaje-Smith darted inside the box and passed to Juninho Cabral who fired in the top corner of the net.

Three minutes into the second half Fgura were unlucky not to pull one back when Rodrick Spiteri’s effort was stopped by the crossbar. Fgura held the initiative for long stretches in the second half but they only came close

again late in the game when substitute Matthew Spiteri hit the crossbar.
