Malta Independent - - NEWS -

An Italian man has given a full account of how he found a wallet with €300 and bank cards in it in Żabbar, and took the initiative to trace its owner and hand it back to him.

The Italian, Giuseppe Ricotta of Palermo, says that he noticed the wallet as he was walking in Żabbar. The wallet contained the money as well as an ID card of a person, Charlot Farrugia, whom he tried to contact via Facebook. “I even tried to make contact with his wife after I got no reply,” he said.

Later, seeing that his message had not received any response, he went to the address listed on the ID card, only to find out that the man does not live there and it is the address of his parents. Mr Farrugia was contacted via phone and the wallet with all its contents was returned to its owner.

Mr Ricotta said that his first instinct was to keep the wallet but he felt it was a dishonest thing to do.
