Amer­i­can griev­ously in­jured in fight with two Libyans in St Ju­lian’s

An Amer­i­can na­tional was griev­ously in­jured early yes­ter­day morn­ing fol­low­ing an ar­gu­ment he had with two Libyans, the po­lice said. The in­ci­dent hap­pened in St Ge­orge’s Road, St Ju­lian’s at 12.45am. The po­lice said that they were in­formed that three men were ar­gu­ing heat­edly but, when po­lice of­fi­cers ap­proached them, one of them ran away.

It re­sulted that two Libyans aged 33 and 35 were in­volved in an ar­gu­ment with an Amer­i­can 35-year-old. As po­lice of­fi­cers were talk­ing to the Libyans, they were in­formed that close by a third per­son needed treat­ment for in­juries sus­tained. It later re­sulted that this third per­son was the Amer­i­can.

The po­lice said that dur­ing the ar­gu­ment the 35-year-old Libyan pushed the Amer­i­can who fell and hit his head against a skip. He was also punched. The 35-year-old Libyan needed treat­ment for slight in­juries while the other Libyan re­fused med­i­cal as­sis­tance. Both are in po­lice cus­tody.
