Benfica stays top and unbeaten in Portugal
Defending champion Benfica defeated crosstown rival Belenenses 2-0 Sunday to maintain a threepoint lead over FC Porto in the Portuguese league.
Konstantinos Mitroglou scored in the 10th minute and Alex Grimaldo sealed the victory for the visitors in the 65th.
The result kept Benfica as the only undefeated team in the league. It has won all five of its away games.
FC Porto beat Arouca 3-0 on Saturday, while thirdplaced Sporting Lisbon was held to a 1-1 draw against Tondela to drop five points behind Benfica.
Late goal gives Olympiakos 2-1 win over PAOK
Luka Milivojevic’s header six minutes into second-half injury time secured defending champion Olympiakos a 2-1 victory over visiting PAOK in the Greek league on Sunday.
Fernando Varela had an eventful game. He opened the scoring for PAOK in the 6th minute, when he pounced on a weak clearance by the goalkeeper, only to provide the equaliser himself in the 25th when he deflected a cross into his own net.
