Ben­fica stays top and un­beaten in Por­tu­gal

De­fend­ing cham­pion Ben­fica de­feated crosstown ri­val Be­le­nenses 2-0 Sun­day to main­tain a three­p­oint lead over FC Porto in the Por­tuguese league.

Kon­stanti­nos Mitroglou scored in the 10th minute and Alex Grimaldo sealed the vic­tory for the vis­i­tors in the 65th.

The re­sult kept Ben­fica as the only un­de­feated team in the league. It has won all five of its away games.

FC Porto beat Arouca 3-0 on Sat­ur­day, while third­placed Sport­ing Lis­bon was held to a 1-1 draw against Ton­dela to drop five points be­hind Ben­fica.

Late goal gives Olympiakos 2-1 win over PAOK

Luka Milivo­je­vic’s header six min­utes into sec­ond-half in­jury time se­cured de­fend­ing cham­pion Olympiakos a 2-1 vic­tory over vis­it­ing PAOK in the Greek league on Sun­day.

Fer­nando Varela had an event­ful game. He opened the scor­ing for PAOK in the 6th minute, when he pounced on a weak clear­ance by the goal­keeper, only to pro­vide the equaliser him­self in the 25th when he de­flected a cross into his own net.
