Bjorn Vassallo resigns as MFA secretary ... joining FIFA as European member associations’ director
The Malta Football Association yesterday accepted the resignation of its secretary general Bjorn Vassallo during the Bureau meeting in the morning.
The outgoing secretary general resigned because he has accepted an offer from the world football governing body, FIFA, where he will be the Director of European member associations.
Vassallo started working with the MFA in 2010, first in the role of Executive Head and then as secretary general.
In a short statement, the MFA said Vassallo formed an integral part of the reforms taken by the association in recent years, His contribution led to the implementation of the needs through which Maltese football has continued to evolve, thanks also to all those who work in this sector.
The statement added that it was an honour for the association and for Maltese football to have its former secretary general working on tougher challenges within the world body of football.
It augured success for Vassallo in his new post and went on to thank him for the work he did for Maltese football, first as a club member and later in the association’s administration.
