Aloysians seal the weekend with MHA Cup victory
Aloysians Von Taine started their season on a positive note by claiming the MHA Cup competition in the men’s category. Still with a game in hand, Aloysians, who are still unbeaten this season, claimed an important victory over Kavallieri RS2 to win the second competition, the MHA Cup, following their Super Cup accomplishment.
The match against Kavallieri started on a flowing and balanced pace. Aloysians took matters
in hand and dominated from the early stages with a solid and talented performance. Kavallieri
tried to fight their way back into the game but Aloysians, led by their coach Matthew Mamo, kept the same standards. Aloysians produced a fine display of handball in the second half and went on to secure the Cup by beating Kavallieri 36 - 26.
Following their success in the Independence Cup friendly tournament and the Super Cup, this was the third consecutive cup claimed by Aloysians this season.
Philip Mifsud of Aloysians was the man of the match. Other matches Phoenix defeated La Salle 26-23 in a match in which La Salle were leading 12-10 at the interval.
Chris Magro of La Salle was the man of the match.
In the other match, Luxol overcame HMS 31-17 after leading 12-7 at the interval.
The player of the match here was Joseph Tanti.
In the women’s competition, La Salle defeated Aloysians 27-24 with Brenda Mamo of Aloysians being named as player of the match.
