Vodafone all’Amatriciana in support of quake victims

-

Vodafone Malta employees presented the Italian Ambassador with a receipt for a €1,000 fund that was raised by staff in support of the victims left behind following the devastating earthquake.

At least 290 people died in last August’s 6.2 magnitude earthquake which hit the regions of Lazio and Le Marche bordering Umbria.

A few weeks following the tragedy, members from Vodafone’s social events committee busied themselves with organising a pasta all’Amatriciana lunch for their fellow colleagues. The Malta International Airport canteen was roped in to serve up the Italian speciality pasta and sauce, which hails from the town of Amatrice badly hit by the earthquake.

Proceeds from the sale of the pasta, which amounted to €500, were donated to the Lazio region’s earthquake relief fund. The Vodafone Malta Foundation also donated a further €500, bringing the total amount up to €1,000.

Italian Ambassador Giovanni Umberto De Vito recently paid a visit to the Vodafone Malta offices at SkyParks Business Centre, Luqa, where he was presented with the receipt of the donation.

Ambassador De Vito expressed his gratitude towards Vodafone Malta employees, adding that he was struck by the Maltese people’s generous spirit and support towards neighbouring Italy.
