Mosta and Qormi share spoils
Mosta took the field with three regulars missing as Luke Farrugia is injured and Denzil Saliba and Gianluca Sciberras are both serving suspension. They dictated matters for long stretches but failed to turn their superiority into goals but credit must be given to Qormi keeper Krassimir Zammit who was very alert with perfect timely sorties.
The early pressure was applied by Mosta. Andrew Camilleri served Nathan Agius in the area and Zammit saved his lobbed ball. Matteo Vella released Ishmael Galea on the right flank and Alleandro Garzia foiled him with a timely tackle and Vella dribbled past an opponent on the right flank and Zammit neutralised the ball from his cross.
Two actions were then created by Qormi. Garzia served Miguel Xuereb with a cross from the right flank and Mosta keeper Daniel Grima saved his header from inside the area and Nicholai Falzon released Luke Coppola in the area and Grima foiled him with a perfect timely sortie.
Three minutes before the break Mosta came very close to break the deadlock when Camilleri served Vella with a cross in the area and the ball was cleared on the line from his header.
Soon after restart Mosta mounted the first actions. Gabriel Sant released Vella in the area and the alert Zammit foiled him with a timely sortie. Vella pounced on a loose ball on the edge of the area and he drove slightly over the bar. Owen Sammut released substitute Leon Zammit on the left flank and Xuereb foiled him with a timely tackle and Matthew Grech served Vella on the left flank and Xuereb headed the ball away following his dangerous cross.
In an action by Qormi Jacob Mizzi was fouled in his own half and the ball was cleared away from the free kick by Garzia. Mosta then created the last two actions before the end as substitute Moustafa Malool served substiute Gabriel Grech with a through ball and Zammit came out of his charge to kick the ball away and a flag kick by Vella was cleared to anotrher corner.
