Pink Day at Cen­tral Bank of Malta

Cen­tral Bank of Malta is sup­port­ing Pink Oc­to­ber 2016. The aim of this phil­an­thropic ini­tia­tive is to raise aware­ness among bank em­ploy­ees about breast can­cer preven­tion and to col­lect funds. A Pink Day was or­ga­nized on 26 Oc­to­ber, where staff mem­bers were en­cour­aged to wear a ‘touch of pink’ and to do­nate funds to this ini­tia­tive.

Cen­tral Bank of Malta man­age­ment and staff have raised €2,500 for this ini­tia­tive. Dur­ing a pre­sen­ta­tion event held at the bank, the Gov­er­nor, Dr Mario Vella ex­plained that the bank en­cour­ages its staff mem­bers to adopt a healthy life style, to do reg­u­lar check-ups and to sup­port ini­tia­tives like Pink Oc­to­ber. He ex­plained that this ini­tia­tive falls within the bank’s Cor­po­rate So­cial Re­spon­si­bil­ity.

Es­ther Sant, Chair­per­son, Ac­tion for Breast Can­cer Foun­da­tion, on be­half of Pink Oc­to­ber thanked the Gov­er­nor, man­age­ment and staff mem­bers for their en­deav­our to col­lect and do­nate funds to Pink Oc­to­ber. She ex­plained that th­ese funds, to­gether with those col­lected from all other Pink Oc­to­ber ini­tia­tives, will be used to help strengthen the na­tional breast can­cer aware­ness and preven­tion cam­paign, to fund the on­go­ing med­i­cal re­search and to pur­chase breast can­cer treat­ment med­i­cal equip­ment.
