Rus­sian clubs fined af­ter fans throw flares at each other

Rus­sian cham­pion CSKA Moscow and league leader Spar­tak Moscow have been fined a to­tal of 990,000 rubles ($15,500) af­ter their fans threw flares at each other dur­ing a match. Fans threw flares into ar­eas of the sta­dium packed with op­po­si­tion sup­port­ers and filled the sta­dium with smoke dur­ing Spar­tak's 3-1 win over CSKA on Satur­day. The un­rest briefly caused the game to be sus­pended as the smoke cleared. There were no re­ports of in­juries. There were also re­ports of clashes be­tween ri­val fans trav­el­ing to the sta­dium.
