Mkhitaryan included in Manchester United squad for Fenerbahce trip

Malta Independent - - SPORT -

Henrikh Mkhitaryan joined his Manchester United cohorts as they flew out to Istanbul for their Europa League clash with Fenerbahce today.

The Armenian playmaker will be hoping to join his team-mates on the pitch as well as in the airport. Mkhitaryan has only started once for United since moving to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

His arrival in Manchester was met with much excitement but the 27-year-old's start to life with the Red Devils has not gone the way he would have hoped.

The attacking midfielder has been absent since struggling during the September derby defeat at the hands of Pep Guardiola's Manchester City - his only start for the club.

Mkhitaryan has played just four times since making the £26million switch from Dortmund but is flying out with United's squad to face the Turkish giants as they look to get back to winning ways.

The usual suspects were all present and correct at the airport. Zlatan Ibrahimovic looked relaxed despite his recent goal drought and will be looking to end his bad run of form against Fenerbahce.

Wayne Rooney was pictured sharing a joke with the charismatic Swede but his current situation is no laughing matter.

Banished to the bench by club and country with questions about his future swirling around him, Rooney could see the tough prospect of the clash in Istanbul as a way to answer his critics.

United's recent form has been patchy to say the least but it doesn't seem to have had a detrimental effect on morale in the camp.

But Mourinho was constantly grinning as he swanned through the airport while quintet Ander Herrera, Juan Mata, David de Gea, Marcos Rojo and Sergio Romero were all smiles as they posed for a photo with a fan.

Paul Pogba unsurprisingly drew attention from onlookers at the airport and also enjoyed a brief encounter with United legend Paddy Crerand.
