SportMalta set to appeal court judgement awarding compensation to injured swimmer
SportMalta is set to appeal a court judgement in which a swimmer was given a €13,000 compensation for injuries sustained while swimming at the national pool.
In a letter sent to The Malta Independent following the publication of a court judgement, SportMalta said when the incident happened over five years ago, SportMalta was not responsible for the upkeep of the National Pool.
The entities responsible at the time were the Kunsill Malti għalliSport and the Aquatic Sports Association.
“Moreover it is not true that SportMalta does not adhere to its obligations to keep people’s safety first. Over the past three years, SportMalta has embarked on a major infrastructural project with over five million euros investment to restore a state-of-the-art venue that was left to deteriorate since its opening. SportMalta is committed to provide the best service to its clients in the safest environment possible by meeting all safety rules and regulations.”
