Jus­tice Min­is­ter Owen Bon­nici in favour of re­viv­ing the Com­mer­cial Courts

Jus­tice Min­is­ter Owen Bon­nici said yes­ter­day that he wants to ini­ti­ate a dis­cus­sion re­gard­ing the re­vival of the Com­mer­cial Courts, af­ter its com­pe­ten­cies were ab­sorbed by the First Hall of the Civil Court many years ago.

He was re­ply­ing to a Par­lia­men­tary Ques­tion by PN MP Jason Az­zopardi, as well as sup­ple­men­tary ques­tions by PL MP An­thony Agius De­celis.

The min­is­ter said that this forms part of the Jus­tice re­forms, to help make court pro­ce­dures quicker, and make it eas­ier for con­tract dis­putes to be sorted.

Speak­ing about the re­forms in gen­eral, he men­tioned the Small Claims Tri­bunal, and other changes made over the past years, and said that it would be use­less to have a grow­ing econA omy if things take too long in court to sort out.
