Sur­geon Kevin Schem­bri ap­pointed as act­ing CEO of Mt Carmel Hos­pi­tal

Sur­geon Kevin Schem­bri has been ap­pointed act­ing CEO of Mt Carmel Hos­pi­tal, af­ter the post was va­cated by PL MP Clifton Grima.

Mr Schem­bri is a res­i­dent spe­cial­ist in car­dio­tho­racic surgery at Mater Dei Hos­pi­tal.

Mr Schem­bri grad­u­ated in medicine from the Uni­ver­sity of Malta in 1992.

He was granted a fel­low­ship from the Royal Col­lege of Sur­geons of Ed­in­burgh in 1999.

In 2004 he was given a fel­low­ship from the Euro­pean Board of Tho­racic and Car­dio­vas­cu­lar Sur­geons.

At present, he is work­ing on a PHD in ge­net­ics at the Uni­ver­sity of Malta.

Dr Clifton Grima, who oc­cu­pied the post since 2014, re­signed af­ter be­ing elected to Par­lia­ment fol­low­ing for­mer Min­is­ter Leo Brin­cat's ap­point­ment to the Euro­pean Court of Au­di­tors.
