GasanMamo In­sur­ance sup­ports cause to fight Diabetes

It’s a proven fact that an an­nual diabetes screen­ing is a way of de­tect­ing pre­di­a­betes in its early stages and ob­vi­ously, it’s eas­ier to treat ef­fec­tively. Un­for­tu­nately, Malta has one of the high­est preva­lence rates of diabetes world­wide. As per the World Health Or­gan­i­sa­tion, it is es­ti­mated that the num­ber of lo­cal pa­tients will grow from 39,000 in the year 2000 to an alarm­ing 57,000 by the year 2030.

In this re­gard the Mal­tese Diabetes As­so­ci­a­tion is work­ing hard to en­gage every­one to pro­mote diabetes aware­ness, im­prove the lives of peo­ple with diabetes, en­cour­age healthy life­styles and re­duce one’s in­di­vid­ual risk of devel­op­ing diabetes.

Lo­cal in­sur­ance com­pany, GasanMamo is sup­port­ing MDA’s ini­tia­tive and joined a group of en­ti­ties in sup­port­ing an event, which was or­gan­ised on Satur­day 5th Novem­ber at the Plaza Shop­ping Cen­tre, Sliema to raise con­scious­ness in fight­ing diabetes. Dur­ing this event, a free glu­cose test was of­fered to the public. This test is used to help di­ag­nose diabetes.

“At GasanMamo we are com­mit­ted to help the Mal­tese Diabetes As­so­ci­a­tion to en­hance its aware­ness of the im­pact of diabetes and the im­por­tance of liv­ing a healthy life­style. More­over, we are ded­i­cated to ed­u­cate and in­form the public about their risk for devel­op­ing type 2 diabetes; pro­vid­ing sup­port for tools and re­sources to help those with the ill­nesses bet­ter man­age it as well as raise funds to aid stop this dis­ease,” said Ju­lian Mamo, Manag­ing Di­rec­tor.

This event forms part of MDA’s ef­fort not only to pro­mote aware­ness but to mark World Diabetes Day, which will be cel­e­brated on 14th Novem­ber with the in­ter­na­tional theme cho­sen be­ing ‘Eyes on Diabetes’. GasanMamo In­sur­ance is concerned at the growing num­ber of peo­ple with diabetes. This is a se­ri­ous health con­di­tion that not only af­fects one’s life­style, but can put you at risk for many other health is­sues, in­clud­ing high blood pres­sure, stroke, and nerve dam­age.
