ASMK Enduro championship starts tomorrow at Ta’ Qali
The Assocjazzjoni Sport Muturi u Karozzi (ASMK) is opening another championship sponsored by ASMK and Pasta Poiatti of the 2016/2017 season tomorrow.
The Enduro Section will be launching the first event of the Enduro motorcycle riders which is to be held at the ASMK Motor Sports Complex at Ta’ Qali.
As previously announced by the Association, this 2016-2017 Enduro Championship will include six races. Such competitions normally almost all events take place outside the Association Sports Complex. This is made possible with the full cooperation of owners of quarries and other locations.
Today, the eve of the Enduro event the committee, under the direction of Eddie Bonello, will be constructing the championship launching race track. This is to include natural and manmade obstacles for the riders in the race.
This temporary Enduro circuit is being constructed at the ASMK premises at Ta‘ Qali. Registration for tomorrow’s race starts at 9am while racing starts at 10am. All registered competitors will be divided into three classes - that of motorcycles under the 250cc and Over 250cc and another class for Trials motorcycles.
Meanwhile the Trials’ first competition of Sunday 30 October was cancelled due to bad weather on the previous night. This competition is scheduled to be held on Tuesday 13 December which is a public holiday. The location will be announced later on.
Currently the association is underway with the first project on the Autocross track where special machinery is used to remove a substantial part of the entire surface on the kilometre long Autocross track.
This work is being made possible thanks to the contractors Polidano Group, Philip Agius & Sons and Carmel Vella & Sons. The work is being coordinated by the Project Manager of the Association Lawrence Darmanin. The work on the motocross track is expected to commence next week.
