22-year-old Venezue­lan con­di­tion­ally dis­charged after string of clothes thefts

Krisny Valeska Sanchez Castillo, a Venezue­lan who was in Malta study­ing English, has been given a con­di­tional dis­charge after ad­mit­ting to a string of clothes thefts.

The 22-year-old was charged was charged with steal­ing clothes from a num­ber of shops in Sliema - Mango, New Look, F&F, Oyshio and Spring­field.

She was in Malta to study English and wanted to re­pay her mother by buy­ing some­thing nice for her. She couldn’t af­ford the items how­ever, and at­tempted to re­move the mag­netic tags.

She said she was aware of what she had done and was sorry about it.

“I didn’t think I would get in such big trou­ble,” 22-year-old said.

The pros­e­cu­tion con­firmed that all the items that the ac­cused stole are in the pos­ses­sion of the po­lice and will be re­turned to their right­ful own­ers.

The ac­cused ad­mit­ted to the charges and was found guilty.

She was con­di­tion­ally dis­charged for 18 months.
