PN approves three more election candidates
The Nationalist Party announced yesterday that is has approved three more candidates for the general election – Janice Chetcuti, Charles Bonello and Wayne Hewitt.
The PN has so far approved 83 candidates.
Mr Bonello was private secretary to former Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi and is a PN councillor in Fgura. He is also President of the PN’s Fgura sectional committee.
Mr Bonello was involved in the organisation of Pope Benedict’s visit to Malta, the 5+5 Summit and the 2005 CHOGM.
Mrs Chetcuti worked as a teacher for 14 years and spent two years as a manager in the Animal Welfare Directorate. Having been involved in number of animal cruelty cases she took a law course and is currently in her fifth year.
Mr Hewitt is manager in a leading technology company and has a 20-year experience in management.
He is a member of the PN’s Gzira sectional committee and a PN councillor in the same locality. He is also International Secretary of the PN’s Equal Opportunities Forum.
Speaking after a meeting of the PN’s Executive Committee, PN Leader Simon Busuttil said more people were accepting the party’s call and offering their time and energy for politics.
“The Maltese people do not want to be led by a corrupt clique that is only interested in secret Panamanian companies. The candidates of the Nationalist Party are working to give the country back to the people.”
The PN’s Executive Committee also paid tribute to Jacqueline Azzopardi, a general election candidate who passed away in the past few days.
