PN ap­proves three more elec­tion can­di­dates

The Na­tion­al­ist Party an­nounced yes­ter­day that is has ap­proved three more can­di­dates for the gen­eral elec­tion – Jan­ice Chet­cuti, Charles Bonello and Wayne He­witt.

The PN has so far ap­proved 83 can­di­dates.

Mr Bonello was pri­vate sec­re­tary to for­mer Prime Min­is­ter Lawrence Gonzi and is a PN coun­cil­lor in Fgura. He is also Pres­i­dent of the PN’s Fgura sec­tional com­mit­tee.

Mr Bonello was in­volved in the or­gan­i­sa­tion of Pope Bene­dict’s visit to Malta, the 5+5 Sum­mit and the 2005 CHOGM.

Mrs Chet­cuti worked as a teacher for 14 years and spent two years as a man­ager in the An­i­mal Wel­fare Direc­torate. Hav­ing been in­volved in num­ber of an­i­mal cru­elty cases she took a law course and is cur­rently in her fifth year.

Mr He­witt is man­ager in a lead­ing tech­nol­ogy com­pany and has a 20-year ex­pe­ri­ence in man­age­ment.

He is a mem­ber of the PN’s Gzira sec­tional com­mit­tee and a PN coun­cil­lor in the same lo­cal­ity. He is also In­ter­na­tional Sec­re­tary of the PN’s Equal Op­por­tu­ni­ties Fo­rum.

Speak­ing af­ter a meet­ing of the PN’s Ex­ec­u­tive Com­mit­tee, PN Leader Si­mon Busut­til said more peo­ple were ac­cept­ing the party’s call and of­fer­ing their time and en­ergy for pol­i­tics.

“The Mal­tese peo­ple do not want to be led by a cor­rupt clique that is only in­ter­ested in se­cret Pana­ma­nian com­pa­nies. The can­di­dates of the Na­tion­al­ist Party are work­ing to give the coun­try back to the peo­ple.”

The PN’s Ex­ec­u­tive Com­mit­tee also paid trib­ute to Jac­que­line Az­zopardi, a gen­eral elec­tion can­di­date who passed away in the past few days.
