A record number of 185 athletes aged between 6 and 20 years took part in this year’s Karate National Championships which were held at Savio College Dingli the past weekend.

“This year was a very active year for MKF, having focused on giving our athletes international exposure. We hosted the 3rd edition of The Small States of Europe Karate Championships in September which had record participation of 250 athletes. ]

The Malta Team managed to secure 3rd place overall.

We have seen our elite athletes taking part in 12 international competitions and training seminars, including the World Karate Championships which were held in Austria last month.

“This year we had rewarding results and this encourages our senseis, technical board as well as our athletes to keep focusing on improving the technical aspect thus ensuring our athletes are well prepared for the challenges that lie ahead”, said MKF President Kenneth Abela.

Abela concluded by thanking Sport Malta and the MOC for their continuous support.
