The De­fin­i­tive(ly) Good Guide to Restau­rants Sur­vey win­ners

Win­ners of the De­fin­i­tive(ly) Good Guide to Restau­rants 2016 Sur­vey, con­ducted in Septem­ber, spon­sored by HSBC, were re­cently pre­sented with fan­tas­tic prizes. Barbara Far­ru­gia, who came first, won a two-night stay in a deluxe room on B&B ba­sis at the In­ter­Con­ti­nen­tal Malta; Jenny Ce­fai in sec­ond place won a one­hour ride in a Route 66 Hum­mer Limou­sine with free flow­ing prosecco and the third prize of a lav­ish gourmet ham­per to the value of €200 from Di­cal House, Fine Foods & Well­be­ing Mosta went to Stephen Mus­cat.

As it en­ters its 17th year, Malta’s Best Restau­rants Awards Cer­e­mony 2016, con­sid­ered to be the Os­cars of the lo­cal restaurant in­dus­try, will be held at the The Grand Ball­room, Grand Ho­tel Ex­cel­sior on Mon­day, 5 De­cem­ber. At the cer­e­mony the new edi­tion of the Guide will also be launched fea­tur­ing the re­sults of the 2016 Restaurant Sur­vey. The book is cre­ated from the votes of the sur­vey of 2,074 peo­ple din­ing out on av­er­age twice a week to an equiv­a­lent of 161,772 din­ing ex­pe­ri­ences in a year. Each year the awards and the Guide pro­vide an an­nual recog­nised and re­spected ref­er­ence point for Malta’s best restau­rants.

Ad­di­tional awards will be pre­sented for the fol­low­ing cat­e­gories in­clud­ing the top rated Best Food Award spon­sored by Unika Beef, Best Ser­vice Award spon­sored by Maturmeat, Best Am­bi­ence Award, Best for Mal­tese food, Best for Busi­ness En­ter­tain­ment spon­sored by Rummo, Most Ro­man­tic spon­sored by place­abook­ing.com, Best Value for Money spon­sored by Meats & Eats, restaurant of­fer­ing the Best Veg­e­tar­ian Op­tions spon­sored by Good Earth Dis­trib­u­tors Ltd, Best Restaurant Re­stroom /Cloak­room, restaurant for Lively At­mos­phere, Chil­dren Friendly restaurant award spon­sored by The Malta Baby & Kids Directory, Best New­comer, Most Men­tioned Restaurant, Chef of the Year Award spon­sored by The Cater­ing Cen­tre, the Award for Restaurant Most Ded­i­cated to Sup­port­ing Lo­cal Pro­duce spon­sored by Par­lia­men­tary Sec­re­tar­iat for Agri­cul­ture, Fish­eries and An­i­mal Rights, the Val­letta Cruise Port Award for Top Rated restaurant on the Val­letta Wa­ter­front and the Colin Best Award for the Most Con­sis­tently Out­stand­ing Restaurant. There will also be a num­ber of wine awards, this year kindly spon­sored by Riedel, the wine glass com­pany.

The re­sults will be pub­lished on­line at www.restau­rants­malta.com as soon as they are an­nounced dur­ing the cer­e­mony of 5 De­cem­ber.
