Vittoriosa inflict second defeat on Mqabba
Mqabba suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Vittoriosa, which cost them their first place on the grid.
Even though Vittoriosa lost their previous two matches, this was always going to be a difficult test for Mqabba, who on the other hand had won their previous two outings.
The Stars took the lead 21 minutes into the match, when a Liam Gauci cross found Leighton Grech unmarked, who easily flicked the ball home.
they could easily have doubled their lead barely two minutes later, when Leighton Grech was floored in the area by Goran Adamovic, and the referee from San Marino pointed towards the spot. However, Arber Dhrami’s from 11 metres finished wide.
They did eventually double their lead on 59 minutes, when a Leighton Grech effort was only temporarily blocked by Mqabba’s defence, with the ball falling at Gianluca Sultana’s feet, whose effort from outside the area surprised Debono.
Vittoriosa continued to attack and made it 3-0 on 73 minutes when Arber Dhrami beat Jonathan Debono with a low drive. Vittoriosa S.: K. Magri, D. Pisani, R. Spiteri, C. Spiteri, L. Grech (J. Galea), P. Mrvic, G. Sultana (F. Dhrami), A. Galea, A. Dhrami, A. Farrugia, L. Gauci (D. Fava)
