Schembri netetd a second triple but Josiah whitehead Roderick Vella and Shoults’ hoops kept their side on a steady advantage with Billy Zammit coming on court to make his triple for a 34-24 halftime advantage.
After the break, it was Ahlberg with another trey for the Violets with David Camilleri doing the same for Athleta. Luxol managed a decent 8-1 run as Schembri netted his third trey but Athleta’s lead didn’t vary much as they were 48-39 ahead.
In the last quarter Athleta pushed forward and made up an 8-2 run going clear of their adversaries.
The play at either end went a notch down as Ahlberg again and Zammit netted their respective triples for both sides. There were further isolated hoops for the two sides till the end of the match with Athleta keeping a tight hold to emerge comfortable victors.
