Valletta net big boost with Iniala as main sponsor

Valletta FC have struck gold with their new main sponsor who was announced yesterday at a press conference at their club premises.

Iniala, a luxury boutique hotel brand fronted by Mark Weingard will be the main sponsor of Valletta FC and Weingard will also be Vice President for the club for the foreseeable future.

Weingard spoke enthusiastically about Valletta since he is currently living here and also has his business here in the city. He explained that a sister company of Iniala, Genesis has purchased five buildings in Valletta and it will also be developing one of them on St Barbara Bastions into a luxury hotel.

Valletta FC President Victor Sciriha revealed that he met Mark Weingard through one of the Valletta FC committee members, Mario Muscat in a brief meeting but he immediately sensed the vision of this enterprising businessman. He said that Weingard had been offered the Vice Presidency and he immediately concurred with the idea.

Sciriha said that Weingard was also enthusiastic about helping out with the club’s nursery since some of the city’s children could not afford certain sports training.

He said that he hoped that the association with Genesis would continue for many years in the future.

Responding to questions from journalists, Vice President Alex Fenech said that Valletta was simply in favour of the MFA applying FIFA rules where foreign players are concerned.

President Sciriha also revealed that Valletta was still without a decent training ground and that discussions on the issue were currently at a standstill.
