Police Inspector found in contempt of court, fined €200 for failing to show up 7 times
A police inspector has been found to be in contempt of court and fined €200 after she consistently failed to show up in a case that has, as a result, not even started.
Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech said Inspector Mary Edel Camilleri had not even brought the suspect – Alexandra Dalmas – to court and the charges have never been read out. Ms Dalmas is on the police wanted list.
In a decree the court said the inspector had failed to show up on seven different occasions and had not even made an arraignment. This was deplorable and amounted to contempt not only towards the courts but also the administration of justice.
The Justice and Home Affairs Ministers and the Police Commissioner were notified about the decree.
