Malta con­trib­utes €45,000 to UNRWA

The Min­istry for For­eign Af­fairs has fi­nalised the pro­ce­dures for a con­tri­bu­tion of €45,000 to sup­port the most crit­i­cal func­tions of the United Na­tions Re­lief and Works Agency for Pales­tine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). This fund­ing will cover the costs of 30,000 teach­ers, doc­tors, nurses and other staff that op­er­ate on the front-lines of such oper­a­tions.

The gov­ern­ment has along the years, fully sup­ported the work un­der­taken by UNRWA with Pales­tinian refugees.

Cov­er­ing over five mil­lion Pales­tinian refugees in Le­banon, Syria, Jor­dan, Gaza and the West Bank, the UNRWA pro­vides much needed ed­u­ca­tion, health, re­lief and so­cial ser­vices.
